Dr. Sarabeth Leonard is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the founder of Factor Physio, a sports physical therapy and performance coaching clinic in Raleigh, North Carolina. She specializes in working with runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes who want to recover from injury, improve performance, and build long-term resilience through individualized care and evidence-based training.

Dr. Leonard earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Level 1 Certified Coach through USA Triathlon, allowing her to bridge the gap between physical therapy, strength training, and endurance coaching.

At Factor Physio, Dr. Leonard works with runners and endurance athletes of all levels—from recreational runners training for their first 5K to experienced/professional athletes preparing for marathons, ultramarathons, and Ironman triathlons. Her clinical approach focuses on identifying the underlying causes of running injuries, improving movement efficiency through running gait analysis, and developing strength programs that support long-term performance.

Many endurance athletes struggle with recurring injuries such as Achilles tendinopathy, runner’s knee, IT band syndrome, and hip pain. Dr. Leonard specializes in treating these conditions through a combination of physical therapy, strength training, and biomechanics assessment. Her goal is not just to resolve pain but to help athletes return to training stronger and more resilient.

In addition to injury rehabilitation, Dr. Leonard offers performance services such as running gait analysis, movement assessments, and endurance coaching. These services help athletes better understand their movement patterns, optimize training load, and reduce injury risk while pursuing performance goals.

As a lifelong endurance athlete herself having recently qualified for Kona Ironman World Championships and Boston Qualified, Dr. Leonard understands the demands of marathon and triathlon training. She has competed in marathons and triathlons and brings both clinical expertise and firsthand athletic experience to her work with runners and endurance athletes.

Dr. Leonard founded Factor Physio to provide a different model of care—one that prioritizes one-on-one treatment, movement analysis, and performance-focused rehabilitation. Based in Raleigh, Factor Physio serves runners and endurance athletes throughout the Triangle area, including Cary, Durham, and Chapel Hill, as well as athletes across the country through remote coaching.
